Are you in a rural area within the district of Wychavon?

Rural businesses and communities can now apply for a new round of the Wychavon Rural Fund. You need to be quick as the deadline for expressions of interest is the 26th February 2024.

The money can be used by small or micro businesses in rural areas, including farmers, to diversify into other sectors and grow tourism. The money can only be used to fund physical projects such as new buildings or renovations and not for staff or day-to day running costs.

Is Class Q a postcode lottery?

Introduced in 2014, Class Q is the right to change the use of agricultural building to residential, without the need for planning permission.

It sounds simple, but the sting is that there is a "prior approval notification" that needs to be submitted, setting out and submitting to the local planning authority as to why and how the proposal meets the criteria.

This is subjective and councils are deciding on these cases, in some instances with completely different outcomes.

The Rural Planning Co secures planning approval for new Live/Work Unit

The Rural Planning Co have secured planning approval for a new Live-Work unit in Wychavon DC.

The applicant wished to build a new live/work unit on the site historically occupied by a traditional agricultural building. It was required for the applicant's son to set up his own bespoke business.
