From Milking Parlour to Modern Retreat
Our clients approached these holiday units with a unique vision; to transform a former milking parlour on their farm into two luxurious, one bedroom holiday units. This brick built barn, once a cornerstone of agricultural operations was no longer suitable for modern agriculture. Recognising its potential, our clients sought to repurpose the space while preserving its rural charm.
Our in house design and architectural team worked closely with the clients to create a proposal that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing, maintaining the buildings agricultural heritage.
Throughout the planning process, we prioritised environmental sustainability and community impact. Our team worked with third parties to conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the projects potential effect on biodiversity, the historic environment and the surrounding landscape. Through careful consideration of these factors, we ensured that the proposed development would be in harmony with the building's character the listed farmhouse's setting.
Summary
Our client wanted to realise the economic potential of a now disused agricultural building on their farm by converting this into self-contained holiday units. This was to be completed using a sensitive approach to the building's historic character.

This conversion presented a number of design challenges. The existing access and potential parking, shared by both the farm house and proposed holiday lets required careful design planning to ensure a seamless and safe experience for guests.
APPROVED
"The views from this farm are simply breath-taking. Indeed a perfect place for holiday units. This former milking parlour had historically been used for agricultural purposes, used for smaller scale farming. It is no longer fit for purpose and with sympathetic conversion will make fabulous holiday units."
