The government has just announced changes to Agricultural, Class Q and Class R permitted development rights from 21st May 2024.

NEW AGRICULTURAL BUILDINGS - More space..

  • Increase in permitted development Part 6 from 1000m2 to 1500m2

CLASS Q - More options, more homes (but smaller)..

  • Maximum amount of space that can be converted is 1000m2 and up to 10 dwellings per holding
  • But, each dwelling can only be a maximum of 150m2
  • You can have rear extensions of up to 4m on hardstanding that already exists
  • A greater number of agricultural barns now qualify, including those no longer used for agricultural purposes

CLASS R - More flexibility..

  • Has been increased from 500m2 to 1000m2
  • The range of commercial uses has been extended
